Winners from UFC 235, what’s next?

UFC was one of the most anticipated shows in Mix Martial Arts history. The show started in the bantamweight division between Ex World Champ Cody Garbrandt vs Pedro Munhoz. Pedro The Young Punisher TKO’d Garbrandt with 8 seconds left in the first round. Pedro is officially a bantamweight title contender, If it wasn’t for a controversial split decision loss to John Dodson, Pedro would be on a 8 fight win streak. With the champ TJ Dillashaw begging for the Henry Cejudo rematch for the title, I would match a #1 contender fight between Pedro Munhoz and Marlon Moraes, winner fights for the UFC Bantamweight Championship!

Next we have American Top Team’s Tecia Torres vs Weili Zhang. Zhang defeated the tiny tornado by unanimous decision to keep her winning streak at 19. Zhang was made a tremendous impact in the UFC by winning her first 3 fights under the UFC umbrella. Every top 10 female strawweight is busy with a fight except Claudia Gadelha, so this is a easy one! Zhang vs Gadelha.

Maybe one of the most anticipated debuts in UFC history was the undefeated welterweight Ben Askren. Dana White did not welcome him with a red carpet instead they introduced him Ruthlessly. This fight started off with straight fireworks with Robbie Lawler throwing bombs and slammed the Funky one down to the mat. Ben Askren stayed alive throughout the scary moments and ended up with a nasty bulldog choke. Referee Herb Dean checkup on Robbie and didn’t feel he was still conscious and ended the fight. Ben is making waves in the welterweight division and I would wait to see who wins the Darren Till vs Jorge Masvidal fight to set up a classic welterweight scrap!

First of the two championship fights was between Welterweight title holder Tyron Woodley vs Kamaru Usman. The Nigerian Nightmare was absolutely that a nightmare for the Chosen One as he smashed him for 5 rounds to become the new welterweight champion. Kamaru Usman showed championship grit and intensity, but it was not long before he showed the UFC universe who he wanted to fight next. He walked outside the octagon and went straight for Interim Champion Colby Covington. This is the easiest matchup to make from the winners from UFC 235.

Lastly was the main event, the Light Heavyweight Championship fight with Jon “Bones” Jones vs Anthony “LionHeart” Smith. It was just another night in Jon Jones’s office as he dismantled another contender. Jon looks outstanding with knees, leg kicks, wrestling and he put on an absolute offensive clinic. But, the question is who’s next? Can he move up to Heavyweight for a fight with Brock Lesnar or his biggest rival Daniel Cormier. Or does he stay in the light heavyweight division to continue his legacy as the greatest fighter of all time. My pick is he stays and defends his light heavyweight title quickly against another new challenger and my pick is Thiago Santos! This fight would be Bananas!
