Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas defends her title in hostile territory against Jessica Andrade. This is the second title defense for Rose since capturing the belt. Rose gets a new challenge for the first time in three fights and this challenge is an explosive one.
Jessica Andrade has been on a tear since dropping all the way down to 115lbs from 135lbs. She is 6-1 with her lone loss coming in her first title shot against former division kingpin Joanna Jedychek. Andrade has big power and brings a strong grappling game with excellent wrestling. This match up is very exciting stylistically but what’s even better is the fact that these two amazing fighters love to engage. This fight is just as big for the fans as it is for the 115lb division. This could be fight of the night, month or even year. It also could be over in the blink of an eye. Both fighters have tools to finish this fight anywhere and fast.
Rose has really blossomed over the years with her striking and head coach, Trevor Wittman. Wittman has a great mind and has proven himself as
one of the premier strategist in the game. The fact that it’s in Jessica’s home country of Brazil adds more thrill to the fight for sure and it guarantees that this fight will have the amazing atmosphere it deserves. Brazil always brings the energy every time the UFC comes to town. These two women are proven warriors and at UFC 237 they will prove who the best
Strawweight in the world really is.
