The State of the UFC Light Heavyweight Division

Summer of 2019 is upon us and Jon “Bones” Jones is the Undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

Five years ago the Light Heavyweight division was best in the organization. The division used to have humongous characters, highly skilled fighters, depth and knockout specialists. Now, after the greatest light heavyweight to ever live, the division is young, thing and doesn’t have a lot for the champ to fear. Next weekend we have Alexander Gustafsson vs Anthony Smith which includes 2 out of the top 3 contenders but, they both just lost to the champ Jon Jones. In July at UFC 239 Jones will take on Thiago Santos who will be going into the main event fight as a huge underdog. If Jon Jones gets past Santos and wants to fight again soon in the division, who would be next? There are some constants in the division like Glover Teixeira, Corey Anderson and OSP. Or does Bones fight another young hungry challenger like Johnny Walker or Dominick Reyes. Either way there is not a lot of juice for Jon’s next Light Heavyweight Championship Fight. What can the UFC do to make Jon “Bones” Jones vs plug name here to make it Bananas!
