Slated for a 155-pound rematch six-years in the making, former-foes, Poirier and McGregor re-run their UFC 178 matchup, this time at the lightweight limit — in a pivotal potential title-eliminator.
Hoping to score his second straight victory, avenge his loss to McGregor and possibly earn a lightweight title tilt, American Top Team feature, Poirier took home a unanimous decision win over event co-main event feature, Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker in June of last year at UFC Vegas 4 in a Fight of the Year contender.
For McGregor, the 32-year-old makes his Octagon return for the first time in a year. Returning to the welterweight limit at UFC 246, McGregor dispatched former lightweight title challenger, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in just forty-seconds via a high-kick and subsequent ground-and-pound stoppage.
