Undisputed LFA strawweight titleholder, Lupita ‘Loopy’ Godinez has reportedly signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC — making her promotional debut against former strawweight title challenger, the returning, Jessica Penne on April 17th. at UFC Vegas 24 — replacing Hannah Goldy.

Undefeated gold holder, Godinez carries across a 5-0 record into her promotional bow with the UFC, having most recently battled to a unanimous decision victory over Vanessa Demopoulos back in October of last year to take the undisputed LFA strawweight crown.

For California veteran, Penne, she finally makes her Octagon return for the first time since UFC Fight Night Nashville back in April of 2017 where she dropped a unanimous decision loss to Danielle Taylor. Speculation began to mount that Godinez had signed with the UFC this afternoon when she appeared in the official fans ranking pool (H/T Aaron Bronsteter)MMA Junkie reporters, Farah Hannoun and Nolan King were first to report the matchup of Godinez and Penne

following MMA Sucka’s Jeremy Brand’s report that Godinez had signed with the promotion.
Godinez, 27, makes her move to the UFC following five prior successes — taking the LFA strawweight championship in her promotional debut against the aforenoted, Demopoulos which ultimately came as her sole outing under the organization’s scrutiny.
Born in Aguascalientes, Mexico and currently plying her trade out of Titan MMA in British Columbia, Godinez puts her perfect professional record on the line against the veteran, Penne — adding Demopoulos to prior career victories over Lindsay Garbatt, Felisha Magallan, Ashlee Mastin, and Jennah McCallister.
12-5 as a professional, Penne ended her professional run with a trio of defeats. Dropping her strawweight title challenge to Joanna Jedrzeczyk, and then a second round knockout loss fellow former champion, Jessica Andrade — prior to the above-noted loss to Taylor.
Penne, a former Invicta FC atomweight champion was initially scheduled to match with the previously noted, Goldy at UFC 260 and then UFC Vegas 24 — until a positive novel coronavirus test forced the shelving of that matchup.
Making her professional debut back in November of 2006, Penne has notched notable career triumphs over the likes of Angela Magana, Nago Sugiyama, Nicdall Rivera-Calanoc, and in her sole UFC victory, took a split decision win over Randa Markos.
UFC Vegas 24 takes place on April 17th. from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada — with a middleweight matchup between former champion, Robert Whittaker and one-time interim title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum taking main event honours.
