Island Fights CEO, Dean Toole will act as matchmaker for the newly minted, iKON Fighting Federation mixed martial arts promotion and will link up with the team over at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship – also in a matchmaker role.
Toole, the leader of Dean Toole Promotions hosted a notable grappling and mixed martial arts tournament back in June of last year in Pensacola, Florida – with a slew of talent appearing.
In grappling showcases, recent UFC welterweight title challenger, Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal drew with former WEC and UFC lightweight best, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis. In the night’s first grappling contest, Olympic silver medalist, Yoel Romero defeated experienced finisher Chris Barnett with an opening-round kimura.
Speaking with Fight Bananas – Toole commented on his new role with iKON Fighting Federation, which makes its first foray on September 24th. – featured UFC Fight Pass, on the same evening as the return of Roy Jones Jr. boxing promotion.
“The situation was, I got to work with Keith (Veltre), and Lisa, their promotion,” Toole explained. “They brought me on to do that. I’ve been doing that for a couple shows. You know, I’ve always helped a lot of shows match their cards – people that I’m friends with, not being paid to do it or anything, by any means.”
“People call me for every show all the time and I always help put guys on their cards – help them last minute. That’s what I love doing. I don’t really give a sh*it about the promoting part. I love matchmaking.”
“I like to sit there, watch the fights that we put together, see who wins them. Everybody’s like, ‘Well, who’s gonna win?’ That’s why we matched them, so if we knew, we’d all be super-duper rich. It’s something that I really love to do, so I’m glad they picked me.
Toole also shed light on his newly signed position with David Feldman’s, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
“I also got offered a position with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship for David Feldman, and I’m gonna be working with them also,” Toole revealed. “No one knows that – I’m announcing that today too. Matchmaking is so easy for me, I deal with every athlete, I deal with every other promoter in the country. I deal with every single biggest management company in the world, so I’m constantly dealing with those people. Having multiple outlets for people to fight, whether it’s Island Fights, BKFC, iKON or helping anybody else with their events, I’m happy to do it.“
