Daniel Cormier Doubts Nate Diaz’s Chances in Boxing Clash vs. Jorge Masvidal

Daniel Cormier has shown no interest in a potential boxing match between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.

Following Masvidal’s announcement of coming out of retirement, there’s been buzz about him facing Diaz in a boxing match in Las Vegas later this year. Masvidal previously defeated Diaz by a doctor’s stoppage TKO in the third round during their November 2019 MMA fight, earning the “BMF” title. Given the result of that fight, Cormier thinks a boxing match would be even tougher for Diaz.

Daniel Cormier expressed his reservations about a boxing match between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz on his ESPN show “DC & RC.” He explained, “I tap out because even in the mixed martial arts fight, we kind of had the idea that Masvidal would be a better striker, and Nate was the better ground guy, and Nate was the better wrestler, the better grappler, and Masvidal dominated that. So now you’re telling me you’re going to limit Nate Diaz to fighting Jorge in the only area that we felt he held the advantage going into Fight 1. Yeah, I don’t anticipate it going well for my boy Nate Diaz.”

Nate Diaz ventured into boxing, facing Jake Paul in a 10-round match last August, but was defeated by unanimous decision. Meanwhile, Jorge Masvidal, after his win against Diaz, faced a string of defeats, losing four MMA fights in a row, leading to his retirement announcement at UFC 287 in April.
