Bellator MMA has been on fire so far in 2019 and their momentum keeps moving forward this weekend with two events. First of the two events is Bellator 215 Mitrione vs Kharitonov Friday night live from the Mohegan Sun Arena and live on Paramount Network at 9pm. Bellator just had a very successful heavyweight Grand Prix that crowned Ryan Bader as the heavyweight champion.
The main event is a heavyweight slugfest with Matt Mitrione vs Sergei Kharitonov, Mitrione was in the UFC, where he picked up some big time wins against Kimbo Slice, Derrick Lewis & Gabriel Gonzaga. Then Matt transition to Bellator MMA in which he picked up 4 straight wins including over Roy Nelson & maybe the greatest heavyweight of all time Fedor Emelianenko. Matt Mitrione could have been announced Bellator Heavyweight Champion but instead they created a Grand Prix to create a heavyweight championship in which he lost to Ryan Bader who went on to win the Championship. Then we get to Matt’s dancing partner Sergei Kharitonov who has won 10 out of his last 11 fights including defeating Roy Nelson.
Also on Bellator 215 we have a surging phenom in the heavyweight division, Steve Mowry. Undefeated at 5-0 and just entering his prime at the age of 26, the Skyscraper could be the next Bellator Super Star. His last win came against Ben Moa last September at Bellator 205. Steve enters into the cage against Darion Abbey Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena and it will be Bananas!
