Nate Landwehr vs Damon Jackson
“The Train,” was able to get back on track with a third-round submission of his opponent Ludovit Klein. Nate Landwehr got back to the winning ways this past Saturday night with a nice anaconda choke of Klein. Landwehr has now improved to 2-2 in the UFC’s featherweight division and is looking to be above .500 in his next fight. Another fighter with a very similar UFC record and just coming off of a win last week is fellow featherweight Damon Jackson. This is Jackson’s second stint in the UFC, and a matchup between him and Landwehr could be an exciting one.
Manon Fiorot vs Montana De La Rosa
Manon Fiorot kept her undefeated streak going in the UFC by getting the decision win over a tough opponent this past Saturday. That makes Fiorot 3-0 in the UFC and now 8-1 overall. The majority of Fiorot’s wins come by way of finish, so it’s always nice to see a fighter get pushed through all three rounds to see how a fighter does by going the distance. Fiorot is making her way through the women’s flyweight division, which is being dominated by the queen, Valentina Schevchenko. I would like to see Fiorot take on a tested veteran to see if she is ready for the next step in the division, and I think that can come by matching up with the battle tested Montana De La Rosa.
Jim Miller vs Jamie Mullarkey
Jim Miller showed up and showed out this past Saturday night with a blistering ko in the second round of his opponent Erick Gonzalez. Miller landed the perfect shot and shut the lights out of his opponent; this was a nice bounce back for Miller who was coming off of a two-fight skid via decisions. Miller has been noted saying he wants to stick around for a while and plans on fighting at least to UFC 300. I think Jamie Mullarkey, who is coming off of another ko win, would be an exciting match up for Miller, who never seems to be in a boring fight.
Andrei Arlovski vs Walt Harris
The old dog just keeps on moving along! Andrei Arlovskiwas able to secure the unanimous decision over Carlos Felipe. At age 42, Arlovski seems to age like a fine wine and has gone 4-1 in his last five fights, with his only loss being to the hot prospect, Tom Aspinall in that span. Not to say that Arlovskihasn’t had some rough spans in his career, but he has a nice little rally going as of late. I think a rematch with Walt Harris could be a nice step forward. The two first faced off in 2018 and Harris won by split decision that was later turned to a No Contest ruling.
Norma Dumont vs Holly Holm
Norma Dumont was able to keep the ball rolling this past Saturday night with a decision win over the late replacement opponent Aspen Ladd. Dumont controlled the five-round affair on the feet and out struck Ladd to get the victory. This makes three in a row now since coming to the UFC after dropping her first fight in the company. Her win streak includes wins over Ladd, Felicia Spencer and Ashlee Evans-Smith. I would like to see her scheduled with her original dance partner that she had scheduled, Holly Holm, when Holm is healthy and able to return to action.
